Flew the lander Petrel on the close-range Orun capture (Spent Light). When the Petrel drifted onto the Orun's dead-drift and was struck — port thruster bank lost, front stove, an uncontrollable tumble – Doyle fought a ship that "would not be flown" home on two thrusters and nerve, and got the crew back alive (though the sensor tech Adler was gravely hurt and the lander was a write-off).
